It’s not just a line in a Whitney Houston song, the children are our future, so we’re happy when we can support them in becoming the leaders of tomorrow through our photography. Journey School gave us that opportunity last year by asking us to take photos of the children participating in the activities and programs that make Journey School unique.

We love the energy kids bring to these photo sessions. As grown ups and professionals, there is always a certain air of nervousness about meeting new clients. It’s sort of like stage fright-you don’t like that feeling, but know that it is what can make you perform your best. As we are  finding ways to get comfortable, kids come to the rescue by doing something completely innocent and inspiring. These moments of spontaneity is what makes us look good. This is why we love being family photographers so much.

See the photo below? We asked her what she would like to do for the photo, and right away she began her spontaneous routine of cartwheels and high jumps. These are fun times!

Isn’t this a great portrait? She’s is a great kid, and Nirzhar loved taking her photograph. She’s actually been great friends with our son since they were in preschool in Laguna Niguel, attached at the hip to the point where the teacher had to sit them at opposite sides of the class! They’re too cute. The school they attend hired Nirzhar to take photos of each of the kids in the 2nd grade, and all the children were great sports at taking the portraits. The kids got to be themselves outside the classroom for a while, and the parents loved the portraits and photographs.

We got some great feedback from the parents – and some more family photography sessions. A great day in the life of a photographer!
