What equipment does The Pradhan Studios use?

We work with Nikon digital equipment.

How do you light your portraits and event photos?

We prefer to use natural light, and that’s why we often use location shots versus an indoor studio. Organic light has the ability to create some beautiful photos with natural contrast.

How should I expect to receive the images?

After a photo shoot  you will be given a date when we can can show you the photos. During this order session, you will be able to view and purchase the photos you want.

What should I expect after a photoshoot for events?

Before a photoshoot we’ll let you know the time-line of when to expect to be able to review the photos. Once you receive the photos via a password protected link, we’ll give you a few days to review them and share the photos with friends and family. We offer different printing packages  including beautifully framed and magnificent canvas prints.

Do you do location shots?

Most of our work is location photos. Being in beautiful Southern California, we have the opportunity to have some of the best locations as part of your photo – whether it be your favorite beach, park, cafe or even shop, the location can make a photoshoot all the more special. With our photography, however, we focus more on the person than on the environment, so the location becomes more of a way to be comfortable with the photo shoot than become a dominant part of the photo.

Do you have a studio?

We are currently happy working from our ‘home’ studio. It has a lot of natural light and is great if the weather is not the best for an outdoor photoshoot.

Why only monochrome or black and white photography?

Black and White photography, or Monochrome photography, is still a popular choice among professional and amateur photographers. It’s clean, classic, dramatic, elegant, and instantly makes a photo feel like a ‘moment’ captured. We choose to focus our photography on Black and White to make your portraits and photos be unlike anything else. For events and high school senior portraits, we do create color photos as it sometimes helps tell the story, but we still keep our focus on black and white. Do you have any formal training?

Both Nirzhar and Rachel Pradhan have formal training in art and design and have been avid photographers for many years.

How should we prepare for a photo shoot?

For portrait photos, such as for children or high school senior portraits, it’s important to plan ahead for your photoshoot. Choosing your outfit, accessories, and how-to coordinate should all be agreed upon before the big day. Do you work with an assistant?

During all photoshoots, Nirzhar and Rachel work together as their skills and abilities complement each other.  During events we may work with an assistant, but they will be trained and professional.

Will you touch-up or edit the images?

Yes, we will touch-up and edit the images to create the look and feel that you’re looking for. Blemishes, stray hairs, and random guy in the background, beware.
